The goal of the presentation is to familiarize the audience with the basic tenets of the religion of Islam and then elaborate on how such faith principles may influence patients' healthcare interactions and decision making. The focus is raising cultural awareness of a faith practiced by approximately 1.6 Billion people around the world and how we may best care for them.

1- Describe the relationships between the five pillars of Islam and patients' healthcare needs
2- Describe modesty and gender interaction considerations when caring for a Muslim patient
3- List dietary restrictions common for Muslim patients
4- Describe maternity, labor and delivery and end-of-life issues as they pertain to the Islamic faith
